Online Garden Education

In a normal year, our garden educators travel around the Omaha metro area, teaching basic gardening skills to children, youth, and adults at approximately 75 garden locations: schools, childcare centers, nonprofits, and more. Since the COVID pandemic began, we have had to adapt, and our programming looks a little different. We recognize that while our staff continues to grow food in the community, many people remain at home, in need of resources for their children’s education, or simply want to become more resilient by growing their food. Many schools are also relying on us for garden-based education, both during and after the school day. That’s why we have worked to translate the basic content of our classes into these online video lessons. Our curriculum covers basic topics to help children, youth, and adults learn the skills & information they need to start their home food gardens.

At The Big Garden, we rely on supporters, like yourself, to keep our doors open, and our education programs going.
